An Inclusive Duniya: From Classrooms to Communities
Equipping schools, families and allies to create inclusive environments for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Some needs in life are universal. Belonging is one of them.
India is home to an estimated 179 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Non-inclusion across various life stages and settings — from education to employment opportunities, classrooms to residential societies — greatly impacts their well-being and life outcomes.
The communities around them need to be informed, enabling, and inclusive. The Sarvodya Collective works with the people around neurodivergent individuals — educators, peers, siblings, communities — to build a world where everyone genuinely belongs.
Inclusion starts with all of us: the teacher who learns to adapt her classroom; the sibling who finally finds a space to talk about what home is really like; the young person who decides to speak up and become an ally instead of a bystander.
The Sarvodya Approach
The Sarvodya Collective runs three programmes, each targeting a different part of the ecosystem.
